Environmental Hazardous Conditions on Arsenic Sulfide Glass Fiber (As2S3)

Chalcogenide arsenic sulfide glass (As2S3) is very stable.  According to the best of our knowledge, using arsenic sulfide chalcogenide fiber below 150°C is safe handling, safe storage, and safe transportation.  As2S3 fiber has high stability to atmospheric moisture and does not crystalize.  Safety Data Sheet describes As2S3 as Non-Hazardous and does not absorb through the skin.

The solubility of arsenic sulfide glass fiber in inorganic solvents:  insoluble in water, insoluble in concentrated hydrochloric acid, soluble in strong alkaline solutions.

The solubility of arsenic sulfide glass fiber in organic solvents:  insoluble in alcohol, acetone, gasoline and Toulon.

As for the medical application, there is no data for the arsenic chalcogenide glasses used in vivo.
